FTM Reset: BMW M5 Flat Tire Pressure Monitor Light (2006-2021) – The BMW M5 car is a luxury sports sedan from BMW. The car is based on the BMW 5 series. The special M5 version is made of the following BMW 5 series types: E28, E34, E39, E60, F10, and F90.

The M5 F90 was unveiled at Gamescom in August 2017 to promote the Need for Speed Payback computer game. The M5 F90 was also subsequently shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) in September 2017.

FTM Reset: BMW M5 Flat Tire Pressure Monitor Light (2006-2021)

Each time a tire pressure has been adjusted or change the tire, you need to reset the Flat Tire Monitor (FTM). Depending on your vehicle model, here are a few ways to reset the FTM on the BMW M5:

2006-2010 Models (E60 E61)

There are two ways to reset tire pressure on this older generation (2006 2007 2008 2009 2010). Depending on your vehicle trim level, please choose from the following two methods:

With Tire Set Button

Time needed: 7 minutes

Follow the instructions below if your vehicle is equipped with a Tire Pressure Set button. Follow these steps to get started:

  1. Stop the vehicle and turn off the engine

    Make sure your vehicle is in a safe place

  2. Adjust the cold tire pressure in all four tires recommended on the tire placard

  3. Starting the engine

    Put the key into the ignition slot, depress the brake pedal, and then press the START/STOP ENGINE button

  4. Look for the Tire Pressure Set button and then press it for 5 seconds

    The “Initializing FTM…” message will appear on the display

  5. Drive the car

    The system reset is completed while the car is on the move

With iDrive

Follow the instructions below if your vehicle is equipped with an iDrive. Here’s how to do it:

  • Make sure to adjust the tire pressure recommended on the tire placard
  • Start the engine but don’t drive your car
  • Press the MENU button to enter the main menu
  • Open the i menu by pressing the dial button
  • Select VEHICLE SETTINGS
  • Select FTM tab menu
  • Select SET TIRE PRESSURE
  • Select YES when a confirmation message appears
  • Drive the car

2011-2016 Models (F10)

In the BMW M5 F10 (2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016), you only can reset the Tire Pressure through the iDrive. Here’s how to get started:

  • Make sure to adjust the tire pressure recommended on the tire placard
  • Turn on the ignition without starting the engine
  • Press MENU button to enter the main menu

  • Go to the VEHICLE INFO by using the Drive controller
  • Select VEHICLE STATUS
  • Select TIRE RESET
  • Start the engine but don’t drive your car
  • Start the initialization using “PERFORM RESET
  • Drive the car

2017-2021 (F90)

Just like the previous generation, in this 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 2021 model years, you can access the tire pressure menu to reset the FTM via iDrive. Here’s how to do it:

With iDrive 1

  • Make sure to adjust the tire pressure recommended on the tire placard
  • Turn on the ignition without starting the engine
  • Press the MENU button to enter the main menu
  • Go to the MY VEHICLE by using the iDrive controller

  • Start the engine but don’t drive your car
  • Select PERFORM RESET to start the initialization
  • Drive the car

With iDrive 2

  • Make sure to adjust the tire pressure recommended on the tire placard
  • Turn on the ignition without starting the engine
  • Press the HOME button to enter the main menu
  • Go to the CAR by using the iDrive controller

  • Start the engine but don’t drive your car
  • Select PERFORM RESET to start the initialization
  • Drive the car

The TPM calibration process will complete during driving. It will finish automatically.
