Whenever tire pressure is adjusted, change a tire, or get it rotated you must carry out the TPMS reset procedure. Depending on the vehicle model year you have, here are a few ways to reset the TPMS on Ford Mustang:
2007-2014 Models
Time needed: 7 minutes
You’ll need TPMS Relearn Tool to reset the Tire Pressure Monitoring System on this model. Follow these steps to do it:
- Park your vehicle
Stop the vehicle and turn off the engine
- Press and release the BRAKE pedal
Ensure fully pressed!
- Without starting the engine, turn the ignition key from OFF to the ON position 3 times with the ending in the ON position
If your vehicle has an ignition button, press the START/STOP button once to turn ON the ignition and then press the button again to turn OFF the ignition. Do this 3 times with the ending in the ON position
- Press and release the BRAKE pedal
Ensure fully pressed!
- Turn OFF the ignition
Do not release the key!
- Turn the ignition key from OFF to the ON position 3 times with the ending in the ON position
If your vehicle has an ignition button, press the START/STOP button once to turn ON the ignition and then press the button again to turn OFF the ignition. Do this 3 times with the ending in the ON position
- You will hear a horn if you do it right
The horn will sound twice and the TRAIN LEFT FRONT TIRE message will appear on the screen
- Start from the driver side front tire, use the TPMS Relearn tool to reset the tpms sensor
Place the relearn tool against the tire sidewall, near the valve stem. Then press the button to activate the TPMS sensor
- Repeat the process for the passenger side front tire, passenger side rear tire, and the driver side rear tire
A chirp horn will confirm that the sensor has been reset
- Turn off the ignition after you reset the last tire
The TIRE LEARNING message will disappear
- Adjust the tire pressure in all four tires recommended on the tire placard
Done!
2015-2021 Models
Unlike the previous model, you don’t need a tool to reset TPMS. Depending on your vehicle trim level, there are 2 ways to do this. Follow these steps to do it:
With Hazard Light
- Drive your car for at least two minutes between 20 mph
- Stop the vehicle and turn off the engine
- Turn ON the ignition without starting the engine
- Turn the hazard flashers ON then OFF 3 times within 10 seconds
- If you successfully enter the reset mode, the horn will sound indicating the TPMS matching process has started
- Start from the driver side front tire, remove the valve cap, and then increasing or decreasing the tire’s air pressure until a horn chirp sounds
- A horn chirp will confirm that the sensor has been reset
- Repeat the process for the passenger side front tire, passenger side rear tire, and the driver side rear tire
- Turn off the ignition after you reset the last tire
- Adjust the tire pressure in all four tires recommended on the tire placard
With Cluster Display
Make sure your vehicle has this menu because not all models have this menu!
- Stop the vehicle and turn off the engine
- Adjust the cold tire pressure in all four tires recommended on the tire placard
- Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position without starting the engine
- Go to the DRIVER ASSIST menu by using the ▲▼ navigation button
- Press the OK button to select
- Scroll down and select TIRE MONITOR
- Press and hold the OK button until a confirmation message appear on the screen
