🚗 Fuse Locations: Under the Hood and Inside the Cabin
That’s right — there are two places where you’ll find relevant fuses:
- Engine Bay Fuse Box
- Interior Fuse Panel (Footwell Area)
Let’s break it down step by step.
🔧 Under the Hood: Engine Bay Fuse Box
If you’re not sure how to access the engine bay fuse box, no worries — I’ve got a dedicated video tutorial that walks you through it step by step.
Once you’re in, here are the fuses to check:
- Fuse #45
- Type: 20 Amp J-case fuse
- Color: Blue
- Function: Related to power features including the moonroof
- Fuse #55
- Also a 20 Amp J-case fuse
- Controls: Moonroof and power windows on most MK4 models
If either of these fuses is blown, replace it with a new 20 Amp J-case fuse. After swapping it out, turn the key to Accessory mode and test the windows or moonroof.
✅ If it works — BOOM, you nailed it!
🛠️ Inside the Car: Interior Fuse Box
Next, move to the interior fuse panel, which is located in the footwell area beneath the glovebox. You might need to crouch down and look upward to spot it.
- Pull off the fuse panel cover.
- Look for the little red 10 Amp fuse — this one is dedicated to the moonroof.
- If it looks burnt or broken, replace it with a new 10 Amp fuse and test again.
🎉 That’s It!
It really is that simple. If your moonroof isn’t working, check these fuses first before heading to the mechanic. A blown fuse is one of the easiest and cheapest fixes out there.
