What’s up, my friend? Today I’m writing this post because I can’t recall whether I ever explained the code 82 on this old Chevy Spark last time. Only now can I tell you what I’ve decided to do.
The first time this code appeared on the dash of my Chevy Spark, I was anxious and a little perplexed. However, you shouldn’t be alarmed; it’s just a reminder to have your oil changed. So without wasting any more time, let’s go ahead and get right to it.

A code 82 on a Chevrolet Spark simply implies that you should do an oil change right away. It’s a notice, not a warning, but it must be addressed right away. Resetting the system after an oil change will resolve Error Code 82.
Time needed: 3 minutes
Alright, we got an old Chevrolet Spark. This is a 2013 Spark, although it will be the same on various models in the same generation range (2014, 2015). So let’s go for it.
To begin, you’ll need to power it up
The oil life may be accessed by pressing the MENU button until you locate it exactly here, where you can check the oil level and the percentage of it
When it appears, press and hold the SET/CLR button to set it to 100%
Turning off and then restarting the car should restore everything to normal and eliminate the code 82
While not an imminent emergency, code 82 will appear when your oil life drops to 5 percent or below, as previously stated. The remaining oil life is shown by the number that appears with the code 82 message. You should be alright as long as you update it before it reaches one.
The code 83 is for the oil and filter replaced reminder. It’ll flash every 7,500 miles to remind the owner to change the oil and filter.
SAE 5W-20 synthetic motor oil is suitable for use in all climates. An alternate oil is SAE 0W-20.
The oil capacity, with the filter, is 3.8 litres (4 quarts).
The spin-on cartridge filter features an M18 X1.5mm thread size.
So that’s all that I wrote for this post. We have more than 1000 posts on this site about different model cars on how to oil service reset them manually. So if you would like, you can check them all. Comments and questions you can use in the section below, and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you so much for coming along to my site, and have a grateful day.
