2008-2021 Chevrolet Equinox Tire Pressure Sensor TPMS Light Reset Guide – The Equinox is a crossover SUV manufactured by Chevrolet since 2005. The first two generations belonged to medium-sized SUVs, while the third belongs to compact-sized ones.

If you replacing a spare tire with a road tire containing the TPMS sensor on your Chevy Equinox, the system will detect a malfunction and the low tire pressure warning light will blink. When that happens, the TPMS sensor reset process must be done. Depending on the vehicle model you have, here are a few ways to reset the TPMS.
2008-2010 Models
Time needed: 7 minutes
If you have 2008 2009 2010 Chevrolet Equinox, you can reset the TPMS by increasing or decreasing the tire pressure without using tools. Follow these instructions to get started:
- Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position without starting the engine
If your vehicle has an ignition button, press the Engine Start/Stop button without touching the brake pedal
- Press the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter’s LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for five seconds
The horn will sound twice and the TIRE LEARNING ACTIVE message will appear indicating the TPMS matching process has started
- Activate the TPMS sensor
Start from the driver side front tire, remove the valve cap, and then increasing or decreasing the tire’s air pressure until a horn chirp sounds
- Repeat the process for the passenger side front tire, passenger side rear tire, and the driver side rear tire
A horn chirp will confirm that the sensor has been reset
- Turn off the ignition after you reset the last tire
The TIRE LEARNING ACTIVE message will disappear
- Adjust the tire pressure in all four tires recommended on the tire placard

2011-2017 Models
Unlike the previous model year, you’ll need TPMS Relearn Tool to reset the Tire Pressure Monitoring System in this 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 Equinox model year. Follow these steps to do it:
- Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position without starting the engine
- Press the MENU button briefly until you see the VEHICLE INFORMATION menu on the display
- Scroll down to the “TIRE PRESSURE” menu
- Press and hold the SET/CLR button until the horn sounds twice
- Start from the driver side front tire, place the TPMS Relearn Tool against the tire sidewall, near the valve stem. Then press the button to activate the TPMS sensor
- Repeat the process for the passenger side front tire, passenger side rear tire, and the driver side rear tire
- Turn off the ignition after you reset the last tire
- Adjust the tire pressure in all four tires recommended on the tire placard
2018-2021 Models
Just like the previous model, you’ll need TPMS Relearn Tool to reset the Tire Pressure Monitoring System in this latest Equinox model year. Depending on your vehicle trim level, here are how to reset TPMS on 2018 2019 2020 2021 Chevy Equinox:
Base Level Display
- Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position without starting the engine
- Go to the VEHICLE tab menu by using the ◄ ► navigation button
- Scroll down to the TIRE PRESSURE menu
- Press and hold the ✓ button until the horn sounds twice
- Start from the driver side front tire, place the Relearn Tool against the tire sidewall, near the valve stem. Then press the button to activate the TPMS sensor
- Repeat the process for the passenger side front tire, passenger side rear tire, and the driver side rear tire
- Turn off the ignition after you reset the last tire
- Adjust the tire pressure in all four tires recommended on the tire placard
Uplevel Display
- Press and holds the ENGINE START/STOP button for 5 seconds without touching the brake pedal
- Press the ◄ navigation button to access the cluster applications
- Select INFO
- Scroll down to the TIRE PRESSURE menu
- Press and hold the ✓ button to enter the relearn mode
- Start from the driver side front tire, place the Relearn Tool against the tire sidewall, near the valve stem. Then press the button to activate the TPMS sensor
- Repeat the process for the passenger side front tire, passenger side rear tire, and the driver side rear tire
- Turn off the ignition after you reset the last tire
- Adjust the tire pressure in all four tires recommended on the tire placard
