Howdy, Bimmers! Wassup? Today I’m going to show you how to reset the oil service light for the BMW X5 G05. It’s straightforward, and you’ll be able to do it. If I can do it, you’ll be able to do it too.

So I’m going to advance this process. I’m going to erase these codes, and then I’m going to follow that up. I will do a do-it-yourself here very shortly, but for now, I will show you how to reset these codes and get this back to ground zero. So let’s dive right in.

Alright, today we are in BMW. This is the 2020 X5 model with this virtual cockpit over here, and I’m going to show you how to reset service reminders. So let’s go ahead and get started.

  1. Turn your car into Diagnostic Mode

    First of all, we need to turn the car into Diagnostic Mode and what you need to do is don’t press the brake, locate the START button and press it rapidly three times

  2. Press and hold the BC button

    There’s a BC button on the left stalk. So press and hold it for about 10 or 15 seconds to bring us to the service menu

  3. Find the ENGINE OIL

    At this point and if we short press the BC button we can scroll through all the reminders but we want to go to the ENGINE OIL

  4. Hold down the BC button

    Now when the ENGINE OIL is displayed you just hold down the BC button and it’s gonna ask you for a reset

  5. Release and then hold it again

    Hold down the BC button one more time to confirm it and you’re done

For your info, this operation work for the fourth generation of the BMW X5 (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 model years).
