The fourth generation of Highlander was revealed at the New York International Auto Show on 17 April 2019. It is offered in five trim levels: L, LE, XLE, Limited, and Platinum. So today, I want to talk about resetting the oil maintenance required light on the Toyota Highlander.
All right, so let’s say that you get in your car and your maintenance light was on. You just go to take off from the dealership, and they forgot to shut it off. I’m not saying it should happen, just saying that it does. Now you need to do a manual reset. So let me show you guys real quick how to reset this up.

In this section, I’m going to show you how to reset the maintenance reminder light on Toyota Highlander. We’re going to use the steering wheel buttons right here and use the cluster up there. So let’s check this out!
If your vehicle has an ignition button, press the START/STOP button two times without stepping on the brake pedal
Press the ▲or▼ button on the steering wheel until we get to the ⚙️ gear symbol
Use the ► button to move over to the right through the next screen until it’s highlighted a little car with the gear symbol
Hold down the OK button and it’ll give you the vehicle settings menu
Use the ▼ button to scroll down and press OK to select the menu
When a confirmation message appears, select YES and then press the OK button
The low oil pressure light is a warning that tells you that there is not enough oil pressure running inside of your engine. So there isn’t enough oil running into the small passages inside the engine, and there is no sufficient lubrication.
So if you get this light, please stop and turn off your engine immediately. If you keep running the car for too long in that condition, with the light on, you might end up seizing the engine and Catastrophically ruining basically, and you would need to replace it. You will need to pull off safely and turn off your engine as early as possible to prevent further damage.
The causes for this, for this light, could be as simple as the oil pressure sensor that became disconnected, which is very unlikely. But it could also mean that you hit the oil pan, where it has cracked, or it has been pierced, where oil is escaping from it. That is more plausible if you are driving on a dirt road, unpaved road, or off-roading.
Another is that you may not be checking your engine oil, and your car is burning oil. Again, there might be a lot of possibilities, but those are the most common ones, especially the two latter ones.
A Lane departure alert system is a nice safety feature because it can keep you centered in your lane alongside your radar cruise control with lane tracing assist. You can disable the system by holding down the Lane Departure Alert button on the steering wheel for about three seconds.
The V6 engine in the 2019 Toyota Highlander is designed to hold synthetic oil with a viscosity rating of 0W-20. Ensure the automobile has been parked and turned off for at least two hours before you begin an oil change. If you don’t, the oil in your car will be scalding, and you risk being burned.
In the Highlander, Toyota advises replacing this oil every 7,500 miles. Towing or off-roading, for example, may need a more regular maintenance frequency.
OBD II port may be found beneath the driver-side dash, just to the left of your steering column. You’ll have to remove a little plastic cap to get to the plug.
The cost of an oil change in the Highlander ranges from $130 to $170, depending on the oil choice. Approximately $30 to $50 of this amount is spent on labor.
