A first look at the 2 + 2-seater supplied the concept vehicle LF-LC, which was presented in January 2012 at the Detroit Motor Show. The production version also debuted four years later in Detroit as the LC 500. This takes over the 351 kW (477 hp) five-liter V8 gasoline engine from the RC F and the GS F and will be the first production vehicle worldwide to use a 10-speed automatic transmission.

At the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, Lexus showed the LC 500h with a 264 kW (359 hp) hybrid drive. Both variants have been sold since June 2017 at prices starting at 99,200 euros.
