2017-2021 Chevy Trax Oil Life/Oil Change Light Reset Guide

Last Updated on December 10, 2021 by Nick

Hi, my friend! How is it going? Today we got the 2017 Chevy Trax, and that’s due for an oil change. So we’re going to show the oil life light reset on this Chevy Trax after an oil change. This is one of the weirdest vehicles for resetting that I found.

I personally love doing as much of my own maintenance on my car as possible. Obviously, it’s cheaper to DIY, but taking care of your stuff gives you a much better understanding of your car, and you learn a lot about vehicles and their systems. So let’s crack on and get into the procedure.

Time needed: 3 minutes

So this is how you reset the oil change light on the 2017 Chevy Trax. If you have 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 model years, it will be a similar procedure. So let’s go inside and reset the oil life.

  1. Turn on the ignition without starting the engine

If your vehicle has an ignition button, press the START button without stepping any pedal

  2. Go to the VEHICLE tab

In order to find out your vehicle oil life, you want to go to the VEHICLE section by using the MENU button

  3. Scroll to the OIL LIFE

On this tab menu, you’re gonna use the ▲ button to scroll up until you get to the OIL LIFE

  4. Hold down the SET/CLR button

If you wanted to reset it there’s an option for the SET/CLR button next to the turn signal. You push it in and it’s gonna give you the option to reset that oil life

  5. Select YES

In order to get to YES you’ve got to turn the thumbwheel until it goes to YES and then you can press the SET/CLR button again and now it has reset the oil life

So there you have it, folks. That is the oil life reset on a 2017 Chevy Trax. I am sure there are other GMs that this would also pertain to, but I didn’t look that up. So remember, you’re probably better off if you can get somebody else to do it. Thank you so much for coming along to my site. God bless and be safe.
