All right, so after you do the oil change, you want to come inside and reset your oil life on the car. It is really simple and easy. So for this particular project, you do not need any tools. Let’s see how we get this done.

Simple Way to Reset Oil Life in Chevy Equinox (2018-2023)
This method also works on a lot of other Chevy GM vehicles so you can try it out. It’s really easy, so you gonna have to turn the key on and then step on the GAS pedal three times. After this, you can start the engine to confirm that everything is done.
Resetting Oil Change Light in Chevy Equinox (Base Level)
Time needed: 3 minutes
To do this operation, you will use the arrows button on the steering wheel to navigate throughout the menu system, and the menu will show up on the cluster screen. So let’s get started.
- Turn on your car
If your vehicle has an ignition button, hold down the Start/Stop button for 5 seconds without stepping on the brake pedal
- Go to the VEHICLE tab menu
Use the navigation buttons on the right of the steering wheel to highlight the VEHICLE menu item
- Find the OIL LIFE
Use the ▲ or ▼ button to scroll over through the menu until you get the Oil Life screen
- Hold down the ✓ button
Now to reset press and hold the ✓ checkmark button on the right of the steering wheel. A single quick press here will not reset the oil life
- Select YES
After that, use the navigation buttons to select YES and hit ✓ to confirm the oil life reset
Resetting in Chevy Equinox Mid-Level Display
- Start your car
- Press the ◄ left arrow button to bring you to the main menu
- From there go to the INFORMATION
- Use the ▲or▼ button to navigate to where the OIL LIFE percentage is
- When the oil percentage is displayed you push and hold the ✓ button to make it resets to 100% and that’s all you got to do
Resetting on Chevy Equinox Up Level Display
- Fire up the car
- Use the ◄or► arrows button to navigate to the i tab up there at the top
- Once you get there you can use the up and down button to navigate through the various things until you get to the remaining OIL LIFE
- After that, hold down the ✓ check button
- When a prompt comes up that asks you if you’re sure that you would like to reset. So highlight YES and hit the ✓ check button again then you’ll see that that oil percentage will reset to 100%

The 2018 Equinox uses full syn oil. Manufactures say you can run 7500 to 10000 miles per oil change. So why is the reset only good for 3000 mi. ? Is there a way to change the reset ?
