Hi, mister! What is going on? Today we are doing an oil change on a 2019 Kia Optima. Your Kia Optima warranty might be expiring here within the next half a year, or it may be expired depending on the year, and you might be looking into doing an oil change and service light reset by yourself.
I highly suggest it because it’s super easy. It is very inexpensive, and I’m going to show you how to do it in this content. So let’s go ahead now and try it for ourselves.

Kia Optima Oil Life/Service Light Reset Guide
For your info, this operation work for the fourth and fifth generations of the Kia Optima (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 model years).
2014-2018 Kia Optima
Time needed: 3 minutes
Alright, we have a 2017 Kia Optima, and I’m gonna be showing you how to reset your oil life or service light. So the first thing you’re gonna have to do is:
- Switch the ignition to the on position without starting your engine
If your vehicle has an ignition button, press the START button two times without step on any pedal
- Go to the 🔧 wrench icon
Then you’re gonna be looking at the display and you’re gonna push this ❏ menu button until you get to the 🔧 wrench icon
- Find the SERVICE reminder
Find the service reminder by using the ▲/▼ up or down button
- Hold down the OK button
Once the service minder is displayed you’re gonna push the OK button and hold it down until the light resets
How To Adjust Service Interval
- Put on the ignition
- Use the ❏ menu button and you need to go through the menus on the dash you get to the ⚙️ gear symbol
- Then use the arrows and you need to go down to SERVICE INTERVAL and hit OK
- Then so if it’s reminding you of the service interval the little thing right there should be check marked and from here we can change the distance and time for the next service interval
2019-2021 Kia Optima
- Turn the key to the on position but don’t start it
- Then we’re gonna go ahead and use the steering wheel functions here. We’re gonna push this here this button here on the right side until we get to the ⚙️ USER SETTINGS
- Next, we’re going to scroll down using this ▼ button here until we get to the SERVICE INTERVAL and then we press OK
- After that, we’re going to scroll down until we get to the RESET and then press the OK button
- When it says reset time and distance you just select YES by pressing OK
