Hey guys! What’s up? Today I’m going to show you how to reset your oil maintenance light on a Nissan Sentra. This will be the same for any US model from 2013 to now.
The Sentra’s use a four-cylinder engine that asks you know in the five thousand or six-month time range to go ahead and do an oil change. This car got about forty-six hundred miles on it, but it’s past six months old, so it’s time for us to do an oil change and reset the system. So let’s go through the steps to reset it.

Nissan Sentra Oil Maintenance Light Reset Guide
For your info, there are three ways to reset it and this guide will be valid for 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 model years.
2013-2015 Nissan Sentra
So I just changed my oil here on Nissan Sentra and I want to say to you if you get the same oil reminder and want to know on this old Nissan Sentra how to reset it, this should be easy.
What you need to do is you’re doing is you just turn this key to on position and then depress the GAS three times slowly. After that, you can turn the engine on and your oil reminder indicator here should be turned off.
2016-2019 Nissan Sentra
Time needed: 3 minutes
This section will show you how to reset your oil on a Nissan Sentra. This one’s 2016, but it’s the same to reset your oil from up to 2019. So what you want to do is:
- First, insert the key and put the ignition on
If your car has a Smart key button, press the START button without stepping on the brake pedal
- Go to the ⚙️ SETTINGS
Then you’re gonna press the ❏ button right here to get to the ⚙️ SETTINGS menu
- Scroll down to MAINTENANCE
From there you gonna press down on the joystick and go to MAINTENANCE and press the ENTER button to get in
- Select OIL AND FILTER
Next, you’re gonna press ENTER on the OIL and FILTER
- Choose RESET or set the interval
At this point, you can scroll down to highlight and select RESET or you can also adjust the intervals by highlighting the digit and using the ▲or▼ button to set it up
2020-2022 Nissan Sentra
Alright, this is an oil reset light for the new Nissan Sentra. So let’s go inside and see what it takes to reset though.
- Get in the car and turn it on
- Then we scroll over go through all your cluster menu and get to the ⚙️ SETTINGS screen
- Once we’re here we use the down arrow to go down to MAINTENANCE and once we’re there hit enter
- Now you have all the maintenance options and you will be gone to OIL CONTROL SYSTEM
- If you want to reset that you press OK
- Press OK again on YES to confirm it
