2014-2022 Land Rover Discovery Sport Oil Service Light Reset Guide
|Last Updated on December 10, 2021 by Nick
Hello guys! Good morning. Today I’m going to show you how to reset the oil service light for the Land Rover Discovery Sports. This is a basic guide for real mechanically inept characters such as myself.
The purpose of this content is do-it-yourself service maintenance is essential and as excellent as mechanics are. Their time and labor become very costly, so if you’re on a limited budget, it helps to do some of this stuff yourself. So now I’ll take you along and show you how it’s done.
2014-2022 Land Rover Discovery Sport Oil Service Light Reset Guide
Time needed: 3 minutes
Alright, it’s time to reset the service warning light on this Land Rover Discovery Sport. So let’s go inside the car and finish this job.
- Set the ignition to the on position
First, what you want to do is hit your START button to get the lights on but don’t turn the engine on yet
- Open the Hood and Driver’s door
Then want to pop the hood by pulling the lever and of course, you have to open the driver’s door to do this
- Hold the GAS and BRAKE pedals all the way down
Once the hood already popped and you also want to leave the driver door open, you want to push down the BRAKE and the GAS pedal at the same time all the way down for about 60 seconds
- Keep holding the pedals
Keep hold them all and you’re gonna see service resetting and when it’s complete it’ll say service counter reset
So that’s how you reset on this Land Rover Discovery Sport L550 (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 model years). I hope it helps you out. If you have any questions, you can reach me in the comment section. So thanks for stopping by, and we’ll come back to you next time with another content.
I have followed this process several times now and whilst the dashboard does read service reset, it actually isn’t. Is there something that I’m missing?
same for me – tried several times, followed it to the letter and it hasn’t worked.
Yes not working for me on a 2019 sport
Same here on my 2016 Discovery Sport, had several attempts as advised but still says “Service Required” Any other advice available? Land Rover say’s ONLY they can reset the light and will ONLY reset if they service the vehicle, which I find very disappointing and just another way to force us to pay their extortionate prices!
Didn’t work for me either…
Said it was reset… but it isn’t
I had the same and after much searching it seems there was an update that stopped this working and now you can only do the service reset with a pathfinder device which is only by L/R or certain independants (expensive equipment)
I tried the process multiple times and watched and rewatched a number of how to videos to see if there was some place I wasn’t getting the process right. I suspect there is an update that requires a Land Rover service center to do it. Not to be dissuaded, I plugged in my OBDLink, and pulled up the GaragePro app available on Google Play from CaRPM. I used it to clear my fault codes, and it cleared the engine service code. There are probably other apps as well, that’s just the one I use.
