|Last Updated on October 24, 2021 by Nick
Howdy, partner! We’re going to take a look at how to reset the oil maintenance light that appears within the vehicle information display on the Infiniti Q50. This maintenance reminder is one of the few maintenance reminders that you’ll see within the dash screen. They’ll also include things like your tire rotation and the others.
Not every shop resets this reminder in here. Some do, and some don’t, but primarily this should be the one you focus on. So come on, let’s take a walk down there, and I’ll show you the steps to reset it.

Intouch Display Method
Time needed: 3 minutes
Alright, in this section, I’m going to show you how to reset your oil maintenance light on a 2017 Infiniti Q50. I’ve already actually done it, but I’ll do it again. So what you’re going to want to do is:
- Switch the ignition over to the on position
If your car has a Smart key button, press the START button two times without stepping on any pedal
- Push the HOME button
Then you’ll want to utilize the secondary Intouch screen located below your navigation screen and press the HOME button to bring you to the main menu
- Go to the SETTINGS
Next, we’re going to go to the SETTINGS located on the right, so we’ll touch that
- Tap in the METER icon
When we get into the settings icon, depending on your vehicle’s equipment you should see the meter this particular car is navigation. So there’s going to be some extra icons in here that you know other vehicles may not have but for the time being, we’re going to select the METER icon
- Find the MAINTENANCE
After that, we’re brought to another sub-menu. What we’ll look at here and as you can see the second item is MAINTENANCE, so we’ll select it
- Select ENGINE OIL
From there, you’re going to notice three categories oil and filter, tire, and other, and then of course the right-hand side we see a bunch of denotation markers for mileages and then little bars that fill up. So in order to reset the reminder since we have the maintenance oil reminder, we’ll go ahead and select ENGINE OIL
- Select RESET DISTANCE
At this point, you can see for this example the distance has only been set to a thousand miles. So since the bar has already exceeded the thousand-mile marker, the reminder that you see inside the dash has now illuminated. To clear it out what we’ll do is we’ll just go ahead and select RESET DISTANCE
Steering Button Method
For the 2016 model and above you can use this method to reset the maintenance reminder that you see in the dash. So let me guide you through the procedure.
- Get in the car and turn it on
- On the right side of the steering wheel, you got the ❏ buttons with arrows left and right. Start off here I’m pushing the right one briefly and you’ll go all the way until you see ENGINE OIL SERVICE
- Now all you’re gonna do is hold one of the ❏ buttons here till you see it disappear then you’ll let go and it’ll reset
So that’s how you reset on this car (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 model years). We no longer have the maintenance reminder when you start your vehicle, or you’re in motion. I hope you found this tutorial easy to do. It is pretty simple. If you liked it, go ahead and give it like. So thanks for reading, and I’ll catch you guys on the next one.
