🔧 Ford Focus MK3 Horn Fuse and Relay Location (2012–2018)
We’re starting off with the MK3 generation Ford Focus—the one shown here is a 2013 model.
✅ Step 1: Locate the Fuse Box
- Pop the hood and look for the engine bay fuse box on the driver’s side.
- Press the locking tabs to open the fuse box cover.
🔎 Step 2: Identify the Horn Fuse
- Look for the blue 15-amp fuse—this is your horn fuse.
- Use the included fuse puller or a small tool to remove it.
- Test the fuse for continuity, or swap it with a known good 15A fuse to check quickly.
💡 Pro Tip: The rear wiper fuse is also a 15A fuse. Temporarily swap it to test the horn.
🔁 Step 3: Check the Horn Relay
- The horn relay is located in the rear corner of the same fuse box—a small, square relay.
- If your fuse is fine but the horn still doesn’t work, this relay may be faulty.
- Try this: have someone press the horn while you tap the relay. If the horn suddenly works, the relay might be sticking.
- You can also swap it with the rear wiper relay (same type) to test without buying parts.
🚗 Ford Focus MK4 Horn Fuse Location (2019–2021)
Now on to the MK4 Focus, covering model years 2019 through 2021. The fuse layout changed a bit in this generation.
✅ Step 1: Find the Engine Bay Fuse Box
- Open the hood and look for the fuse box between the battery and the passenger-side fender (nearside wing).
- If you’re not sure how to open it, I’ve got a video tutorial here to walk you through it.
🔎 Step 2: Locate the Horn Fuse
- You’re looking for Fuse #37, which is a yellow 20-amp micro fuse.
- Just like before—remove it, test for continuity, or swap in a known good 20A micro fuse.
⚠️ What About the Relay?
- Unlike the MK3, the MK4’s horn relay is integrated into the Body Control Module (BCM).
- That means it’s not accessible or serviceable in the same plug-and-play way.
- If your horn fuse is good but the horn still doesn’t work, the issue could be in the wiring or BCM itself.

That’s it! Whether you’re working with a 2012–2018 MK3 or a 2019–2021 MK4 Ford Focus, you now know how to locate and test the horn fuse—and in the case of the MK3, the horn relay too.
