2011-2018 BMW 3-Series Oil Service Light Reset Guide (320i 330i 340i)

What’s up, guys! So here I’m with a quick little DIY on how to reset your service oil light on a BMW 320i 330i 340i. So when you first turn on your car, you can see it says inspection, and it says how many miles I have until I need an oil change. That’s just a nice marker to tell me when I need to have my oil serviced in.

So instead of having a sticker like most people have an upper right-hand corner of the actual car that’s built into the car, many people don’t know how to reset it. So in this post, I’m just going to show you quickly how to reset it. If you ever do a DIY oil change or if the technician forgets to reset it, I’ll show you how to do it.

BMW 3-Series F30 Oil Service Light Reset Guide (320i 330i 340i)

Time needed: 3 minutes

This is a short step showing you how to reset the service reminder on a sixth-generation BMW 3-series, which would be an F30 chassis from 2011 to 2018 end up. It’s pretty simple, so all you need to do is:

Turn on your car without starting the engine
Press the START button once so that the ignition comes to the on and you make sure your foot is not on the brake. You don’t want the car to start but you just turn the ignition on
Hold the TRIP button down
Then we need to press and hold the TRIP button over here until a service menu comes up
Find the Engine Oil
Now you can press the trip button briefly to scroll through all of the different options. Right now I’m gonna be resetting the Engine Oil but you can use the same procedure to reset any other item
Press and hold the TRIP button
Once you get over the item we want to reset you press and hold the TRIP button again so it’ll come up reset with a question mark
Release and then hold it again to confirm the reset
After that, release the TRIP button and then press and hold it again to confirm so it’ll start a countdown. Once that countdown completes the service is reset and you’re good to go

So yeah, that’s it, guys. Pretty simple quick tip to go and reset your maintenance lights on your BMW 3 series. And once again, this was on a 2012 BMW F30 335i, but I think this would work on any current new generation BMWs in terms of F30 and newer, and that’s because they’re going to generally use the same on-board like IDrive and gauge cluster software.
