Hello and welcome to another tip content. Now, this is just going to be a quick how-to reset the oil change minder or service light on this VW Volkswagen Tiguan. I make this content because I had a couple of people who had posted videos on how to do it, and they weren’t correct, so I finally figured this one out, hope it helps.
So this is my son’s VW Tiguan and what we’re going to do today is very simple: you’re just going to reset the service light. I assume it is just effortless maintenance that we’re going to do, and I’m going to show you how to do that. So stay tuned.

In this section, I will show you a couple of tricks to reset the service light. If you’re a daily driver or work on your car, these might help you a little bit. So let’s go ahead.
Start with the key off
You have to press the 0.0/SET button and hold it as you turn the key to the on position
After a few seconds let the 0.0/SET button go and then press the ❏ button on the left and the service will reset
So here is another way to get your service light to go out. Follow these steps if your vehicle is equipped with a steering wheel button.
For your info, this operation work for the first generation of the VW Volkswagen Tiguan (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 model years). For the latest model, you can reach it here.
In the US, VW and Audi are specs for almost all engines. Several factors might affect how much engine oil your car needs. The typical consumption rate is one quart every one thousand two hundred miles (one liter per two thousand kilometers). Over the first three thousand miles, a new car may use more gas than a comparable vehicle (5000 km).
If you’re under warranty, you will bring your vehicle into the dealership for anybody with oil consumption issues. They’re going to mark your dipstick and check your oil note it in their system, so they have a record of your repair order and the mileage you were in there under, and then you’ll come back, I think every thousand miles to check to verify you don’t have an oil consumption issue.
If you’ve exceeded that amount, you’ll need to have something addressed, but if you’re not exceeding without a quart every thousand miles, then there’s nothing you’ll be able to do. Well, that is a little bit excessive. It is within the spec that VW and Audi specify for most of their engines, and there’s not much you can do except keep an eye on your oil.
2012 Volkswagen Tiguan gasoline engines hold 5.8 quarts of oil (5.5 liters).
For the best performance in any climate, the 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan needs either an SAE 5W-30 or 5W-40 motor oil.
So that’s how you do it. If you guys need help with anything on VW Tiguan, leave a comment below, guys, and we’ll try to make content for your specific problem. So thank you for supporting this site and for reading my content. See you guys next time.
