2010-2020 Ford Fusion Oil Life/Oil Change Light Reset Guide
|Last Updated on August 5, 2022 by Nick
What’s going on, guys? Today, I will show you how to reset the oil life light in a Ford Fusion after an oil change. It’s a straightforward process; this light will come on when the computer says you need an oil change. I believe it’s every 5,000 miles after it has been reset from the previous reset.
So if you see a change oil soon message, you should have about 10% oil life remaining. But if you see oil change required, that means you’re at 0%. So it would be best if you got your oil changed soon and then get rid of that message.

What is so important about oil?
Your car can’t survive without oil. Keeping your engine’s parts moving smoothly prevents friction from building up, which is bad for your engine’s performance. Additionally, the oil helps to keep your engine clean, resulting in improved performance and a longer lifespan.
How often do you need to change your engine oil?
The anticipated oil change service intervals depending on vehicle operating conditions are as follows. Up to ten thousand miles for regular commuting with highway driving. 5,000 to 7,500 miles for trailer tow or high-low driving. And 3,000 to 5,000 miles for short trip usage in extreme cold or hot temperatures.
When the monitor detects 5% oil life remaining, the message center will display an engine oil change soon. And when the system detects 0% life remaining, the message center will display the oil change required.
Suppose the vehicle reaches one year since the last oil change without any oil life messages described earlier showing up in the cluster. In that case, the customer will be prompted to change the oil for the system to work accurately.
