2007-2012 Acura RDX Oil Life/Service Light Reset Guide

Hello, Acura fam! Today I’m going to show you how to reset your oil life or service light in your Acura RDX. I just changed my oil recently, and I did it manually. This is my first time doing it on this car, and I found out that it’s so easy.

It’s relatively simple, so I didn’t bother showing you guys how to do the oil change, but I want to show you guys how to reset the service light. So let’s go through the steps to reset it.

2007-2012 Acura RDX Oil Life Reset Guide

Throw the key in and turn it to the on position 2 but don’t start the engine
I use the RESET knob on the dash here to cycle through to the OIL LIFE screen

Once you get that screen you need to hold that knob
Once you’ve held long enough it asks you to reset or cancel
Now you rotate the knob to the side to select RESET and then you push it so you can see there the oil life has been reset to 100%

Resetting Service Light in Acura RDX with Steering Button

Time needed: 3 minutes

To reset the oil life in this Acura RDX, we will be using the three buttons on the steering column to do it. So let’s go ahead now and try it for ourselves.

Turn the ignition key to the ON position without starting the engine
First, you have to turn on the ignition without starting your car
Go to the OIL LIFE or SERVICE screen
Then you look for the SEL/RESET button on the steering wheel and then keep press on it until you reach the OIL LIFE or SERVICE
Hold down the SEL/RESET button
After that, you press the SEL/RESET button for 10 seconds and it will give a prompt on your dash screen
Highlight the RESET
Next, press the UP button to put it on to highlight the RESET
Press the SEL/RESET button
Finally, press the SEL/RESET button again to confirm it and you’re done

All 2011 Acura RDX variants share the same 2.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. Therefore the following guidelines apply to all of your vehicles, regardless of body style. The required amount of engine oil is 5.0 quarts with a filter or 4.8 quarts without a filter.

What kind of oil does the 2012 Acura RDX need?

You may use only SAE 5W-30 oil with the API Certification Seal in your 2012 Acura RDX. In an emergency, SAE 5W-40 can be used as a temporary replacement.
