2007-2022 Ford Mondeo Oil Change/Service Light Reset Guide

Hello, sunshine! How are you? In this post, we’re going to be resetting the oil change or service light in this petrol engine Ford Mondeo (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 model years). This is a short of job you can do at home yourself.

If the engine oil life is less than 5%, you’ll see the Oil Change Required Light appear on the dash. Whenever I do an oil change on my car, I’d like to reset the system that way, and I always know exactly how many miles I have on this oil. So let’s go inside and reset the oil life.

Ford Mondeo Oil Change/Service Light Reset Guide

2007-2014 Mondeo MK4

In this section, I will show you how to reset the service oil notification in the Ford Mondeo. This is the Ford Mondeo MK4 which was manufactured from 2007 to 2014 models. So let’s get right to work.

  • First, make sure that your bonnet and all doors are closed otherwise this most probably won’t work because sometimes it gives you an error message to tell you that everything’s open, so shut everything
  • Then sit in the car and what you need to do is put your foot on the BRAKE and the ACCELERATOR pedal at the same time
  • As you hold them, you press the START button so now they won’t start the car
  • Keep hold it and you’ll see Oil Reset in Progress, so just wait a few more seconds until you see Service Reset is Completed
  • Now you can take your feet off the pedals and start it up so there no more service light

Time needed: 3 minutes

We’re working on a 2017 Ford Mondeo today, and we’re going to be doing the showing to do the service reset. We will be using the controls here on the steering wheel, the arrows, and the OK button. So all you got to do is:

  1. Put the Ignition to Accessory Mode

If your vehicle has an ignition button, press the START/STOP button once without stepping on the clutch pedal

  2. Go to the main menu

Then you press the left arrow on the steering wheel control and it’ll bring you across to the main menu

  3. Get the SETTINGS menu

Next, you’re going to press down until you get the SETTINGS and press OK

  4. Select VEHICLE SETTINGS

After that in the VEHICLE SETTINGS, you’re going to press OK again

  5. Click on OIL LIFE RESET

In this menu scroll down to OIL LIFE RESET and hit OK

  6. Hold down the OK button

At this point, you’re going to press and hold the OK button and you can see the lines going across there so that’s been reset successfully

With Display Type 2

  • Firstt, get in the car and turn it on
  • It’ll give you a couple of messages there’s you just clear it out by pressing OK
  • Then you’re gonna be using the buttons here on the left-hand side of the steering wheel. So you’re gonna press the left button to get the main menu
  • Next, you’re gonna scroll down to SETTINGS and press OK
  • After that, click OK on the VEHICLE
  • It’s gonna give you a list of options and you’re gonna scroll down till you get the OIL LIFE and hit OK
  • At this point, it’s gonna ask you to hold OK to reset. So you hold it down and there you go reset successfully

So that was the end of the post today. Hopefully, that will save you a bit of money instead of taking it to a garage. Any questions, post them in the comments section. So thanks very much for stopping by, and I hope you enjoyed this content. Goodbye!
