The Tundra is a full-size pick-up vehicle manufactured by Toyota since 2000 as a replacement for the previous Toyota T100. Are you looking for how to reset the oil maintenance required light on a Toyota Tundra? Don’t worry; we are here for you.
The maintenance light comes on when you need to change the engine oil. I change my oil every 10,000 miles, so I need to reset this light quite a bit, but make sure you change your engine oil before resetting this light. So here we go.
Table of Contents
You may have noticed that your Toyota Tundra is flashing a “Maintenance Required” message after 5000 or 10,000 miles. Don’t panic. It’s just a reminder to check your truck’s maintenance schedule.
The maintenance required light on your Toyota Tundra will not automatically reset after it has been maintained. So you need to reset it yourself. If you are unsure how to do it, we will guide you the right way. This will prevent costly repairs and improve your vehicle’s resale value.
Keep in mind that this maintenance light is different from a check engine light. It’s simply a reminder to change the oil on your Tundra. You can even reset it yourself if you’re in a hurry. That way, you can focus on your other priorities and avoid the hassle of a maintenance reminder.
In this section, I’m going to show you how to reset your engine oil data light in the old Tundra. When that light comes on that you’ve seen in the thumbnail that means you have to change your engine oil. So the first what you want to do is:
Time needed: 3 minutes
In this section, I’m going to just show you how to reset the oil maintenance required light after you’ve already changed your engine oil in this 2017 Toyota Tundra. So let’s do it.
If your vehicle has an ignition button, press the START/STOP button two times without stepping on the brake pedal
Get to TRIP A where it says odometer you should get that to TRIP A, so push the button on the cluster to get it
Once you’re on TRIP A you need to turn the key off or press the START/STOP button once
Then you’re gonna need to hold down the ODO/TRIP button while you turn the key to position two and do not start it
Keep holding the button until it says maintenance required resetting maintenance data or you’ll see four zeros and now you are resetting it
Now you can turn it off and then start the engine to confirm that everything is done
For your information, this process will work the first and second generations of the Toyota Tundra (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 model years). For the new model, you can reach it here.
If you look in your owner’s manual under the schedule maintenance section, it will tell you that your vehicle is due for an oil change every 10,000 months. However, your car needs to be checked every 5,000 miles for tires, the brakes, and all the other stuff on the vehicle to ensure your vehicle is safe.
A node says that particular and exceptional circumstances on a vehicle include extensive idling towing driving on dirt roads. Most tundras do one or two of those, and most hunters will qualify for also an oil change at every 5,000 miles because they’re either towing under or having a dirt road traveling.
SAE 0W-20 full synthetic oil is suggested for the Toyota Tundra.
The oil capacity of the truck’s 1UR-FE and 3UR-FE engines is 7.9 quarts with a filter.
The cost of the oil and the filter should be no more than $60 and $20, respectively. Take it to a repair shop or quick-lube facility, and you’ll have to pay extra expenses.
Avoid delaying an oil change, no matter how you have it done since doing so might ruin your engine. For as long as you own your car, try to keep to routine service.
So that’s how you reset it well. Now the oil maintenance data light is reset. I hope this content helped you out; please leave me a comment below to help support my site. Thank you for reading. God bless, and have a great day.
