How does the oil life sensor work on Chevy Monte Carlo?

The Chevrolet oil life monitoring system provides distinct benefits to drivers. It alerts you when to change the oil and protects your engine from premature wear and tear. The system may even allow you to go longer between oil changes, saving you money, time, and precious natural resources. This system works by reading engine temperatures and analyzing other factors, such as driving habits and climate conditions.

Once installed, the oil life monitoring system will send information to your car’s computer. It will calculate the required oil change for your car based on the oil’s current level. Some systems will stay in the background until you take your vehicle to the dealership for service. This system is a much better option than wasting your motor oil and making frequent stops without changing the oil.

The recommended interval of oil changes varies depending on the driving and oil type. If you drive primarily on the highway, the interval is longer than if you go mostly in city areas. However, if you move mainly to city areas, you should adjust the intervals accordingly.
