Hey there, trucker! Wassup? Today’s post on how to reset the oil life light on the Chevy Avalanche after you change the engine oil. Here we go right there; what you want to do it’s straightforward. This is a 2011 Chevy Avalanche, but this works on most GM Chevy vehicles.

I like to save money and do my own oil change. It’s a lot cheaper to do it yourself and to pay for it, you also get your selection of oil, and you know you did the job right. So do yourself and save some money.

With Accelerator Pedal

This way is going to be similar for any GM model vehicle with the same engine. So let’s go ahead now and try it for ourselves.

So what you want to do first is flip the ignition over to the run position and then you just press your ACCELERATOR pedal three times within 5 seconds.  If you see the light flashes, it tells you the system has been reset.

With Dash Screen

Time needed: 3 minutes

If it doesn’t work that old-fashioned way, you must be in the menus. The menus are operated with the DIC button on the instrument panel. So let’s go and see in the menus on this dash screen.

  1. Get in the car and turn it on

Put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position

  2. Go to the OIL LIFE

Then we’re gonna hit that Vehicle Info button until it takes us to the OIL LIFE

  3. Hold down the ✓ button

After that, take your finger off the info button and just hold down the ✓ button and it’s going to go to 100%

So that’s how you reset on this car (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 model years). I hope it works for you and hope that saves you some money. If you have any questions, please leave them in the comment section below, and until next time, guys.
