As you can see, the MPK49 is a fine-looking fellow. A brief glance across its top panel hints at the range of control it offers, with the right-hand third offering eight ‘endless’ knobs, faders and switches. This keyboard is built to be buddy-buddy with the experienced midi composer. With all of the latest heavyweight features combined in a USB/MIDI controller keyboard for music production, the MPK49 is fired up and ready to go. Not that you NEED to be using this Akai for professional use, but with all these features, it would be easy for a novice to get lost in the dashboard and get frustrated.

According to several user reviews, they have praised Akai Professional MPK49 for a comfortable, user-friendly controller; MPC-style pads and Note Repeat function are a great combination; Nice arpeggiator; Software editor is a bonus. Also, some users have complained it for the faders could perhaps be sturdier; Mains adaptor not supplied.

Factory Reset:

  1. Enter “Global Mode” by pressing [GLOBAL] button
  2. Then, turn [VALUE] dial to select “RESET ALL CONTROLLERS” message.
  3. Finally, press the [ENTER] button to execute the function.

Warning! This operation will cause will return all controller values, such as pitch bend and modulation to their default settings. Do not use this function unless you are certain that you want to do this. This procedure also applies to the MPK61 unit.
