Last Updated on October 9, 2021 by Nick

The oil and spanner lamp come on my Holden Captiva. This is a 2017 model, and the engine oil has been changed. It’s just been in for service last week into the garage, and they weren’t aware there was an engine oil service light, and that’s why I need to reset it in my Holden Captiva.

Without using a computer or laptop, we can do it manually, and it won’t even cost you anything. Instead of being charged a hundred bucks to get it diagnosed by a machine, we’re going to do it here for free. So be sure to stay tuned.

Time needed: 3 minutes

Alright, we have a 2017 Holden Captiva, and this section will show you how to reset the oil life in this car. So the first thing you’re going to have to do is:

  1. Turn on the ignition without starting the engine

First, put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position

  2. Step on the Accelerator pedal 3 times

Then I’m going to do is press and release the Accelerator pedal three times in relatively quick succession within five seconds

  3. Verify the indicator has been reset

If the oil light flashes it means it’s resetting and once it’s turned off it’s fully reset

So that’s how you reset the oil life in Holden Captiva (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 model years). Honestly, this is the same procedure for most GM cars. Hopefully, you found that helpful. Feel free to give me a thumbs up and comment if you found that helpful. So thanks for your time and see you next time.
