Morning! So good to see ya. In this post, we will be working with our 2012 GMC Acadia 3.6-liter V6. We’re going to show you how to reset your oil life light on this GMC Acadia after an oil change which is something GM recommends you do every 7500 miles with full synthetic motor oil.

They say an oil change, you’re supposed to do it about every five thousand to seven thousand miles. So now I’ll show you everything you’ll need for this oil change light reset. It shouldn’t take you any more than 3 minutes. It’s pretty easy and pretty self-explanatory. So let’s hop over to it.

There are actually three ways to do this oil life reset. And this one is the fastest way to do it.

  • Turn the key to the run position, which is key on without the engine running
  • Then fully depress and release the gas pedal three times nice and smooth
  • After that, you can shut the key off and then turn it back on, so your oil life should be reset to 100%

  • Hit the knob on the dash to get to OIL LIFE remaining

Okay, this is just a quick guide when my car comes on. It says change engine oil soon when I change that. So now I’m going to show you how to reset that.

  1. Turn the key on

    Stick the key in and turn it to the on position

  2. Go to the OIL LIFE screen

    Then you press the VEHICLE INFORMATION button on the center console repeatedly until you see the remaining Oil Life on the dash screen

    Now I’m just gonna hold down the ✓ button and it’ll go back to 100%

For your info, this will apply specifically to 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 model years. The new model is slightly different, but I’ll try to get you a link up here.
