2011-2015 Chevrolet Volt Oil Life/Oil Change Light Reset Guide

Last Updated on May 19, 2022 by Nick

Good morning folks! Today I want to do a short post on the remaining oil life or oil change light reset on this Chevrolet Volt. This is important because, as a plug-in hybrid, you’re usually not going to be using the engine for the first part of any trip, especially if you’re plugging in regularly.

So trying to judge how often to change your oil will not correlate with how many miles you’ve traveled. It’s much better to base it on how often the engine is used. So without wasting any more time, let’s go ahead and get right to it.

Time needed: 3 minutes

Alright, to complete the process of changing your engine oil, we must first reset your oil life monitor system. So let me do that right now.

  1. Set the ignition to on position

So let’s get into the car first and start it up. Since this is a hybrid you’re not gonna hear any engine noise

  2. Go to the OIL LIFE on the display menu

Then we’re gonna use the dash screen and the SELECT knob on the left panel. So you just need to turn the knob left or right to go find your OIL LIFE screen

  3. Press the SELECT knob

Once we’re at this screen, just press the SELECT knob on that and it says are you sure that you want to reset

  4. Select YES

Next, go ahead and turn the knob to the left to go to YES and press the SELECT knob, and there you go and that was it

So that’s how you reset on this Chevrolet Volt (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 model years). And with that, we’ve successfully reset the warning system. Make sure to remember that if you can find someone else to do it for you, you’re likely to be better off. Thanks for taking the time to visit this site, and have a great day.
