Last Updated on January 23, 2022 by Nick

Hi, mister! What’s new? Today I’m going to show you how to reset the oil life or oil change light on your Cadillac Escalade where it shows it’s running low on engine oil. So I recently completed the engine oil change, and now I want to get rid of the oil light.

I’ve changed the oil with full synthetic oil along with the oil filter. It’s super important to replace the oil filter along with the oil change. So everything’s all done, and now I’m going to go ahead and show you how to reset the oil light.

For your info, this will apply specifically to the 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 model years. The 2015 through 2022 model has a little bit different but I’ll try to get you a link up here.

With DIC Button

Time needed: 3 minutes

This is how to reset your oil life on your old Cadillac Escalade with the DIC button. I was trying to figure it out and what I was doing is I was trying it on. So let’s go ahead now and try it for ourselves.

  1. Turn on the ignition

First, turn the key to the on position but you cannot start the vehicle

  2. Go to the OIL LIFE

Next, you come over here to the information center control panel and you press the Vehicle Info button and hit it several times until you see Oil Life remaining
change engine oil life light reset

  3. Press the ✓ button for several seconds

After that, press the ✓ check button and hold it for five seconds until it goes back to this screen over here where it shows that you have a hundred percent oil life

  4. Start the car

Now you can turn the ignition off and start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset

With Gas Pedal

The oil life system can also be reset as follows:

  • You’ll first place the key in the ignition and turn it on, but you won’t start the car at that point
  • As the last step, I’m going to push down on the GAS pedal three times and you’ll be good to go

So that’s how easy it is. As you can see, the oil gauge in the dashboard has been reset and is back to a hundred percent. Hit me up if you have any questions, and I will see you guys. Thanks for stopping by, and have a great time.
